I had the privilege of attending the 20th Annual International Conference on Distributed Computing in Smart Systems and the Internet of Things (DCOSS-IoT 2024) from April 29 to May 1, 2024, at the W Hotel (Marriott) in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. The conference was an excellent opportunity to present part of my research, learn from other experts, and experience the unique culture of this vibrant city.
Presenting My Research
I was excited to present a paper on "Single Anchor-Based InfrastructureLess Localization Performance Using UWB Radios", which sparked insightful discussions with fellow researchers. The sessions at DCOSS covered a wide range of topics in sensor systems and distributed computing, giving me new ideas and perspectives to consider for my future work.
Exploring Abu Dhabi
Between sessions, I had time to explore Abu Dhabi’s mix of modernity and tradition. From the stunning city to the serene Corniche, the city offered a perfect blend of cultural landmarks and contemporary attractions.
Desert Safari Adventure
One of the highlights of the trip was the desert safari. After a thrilling dune-bashing ride, we enjoyed a peaceful sunset and a traditional Bedouin-style dinner under the stars. The experience was complete with camel rides and cultural performances, making it a memorable adventure.
A Truly Memorable Experience
Overall, DCOSS 2024 was a great mix of academic growth and unforgettable experiences. The chance to present my research, connect with peers, and enjoy the beauty of Abu Dhabi—especially the desert safari—made this trip one I’ll never forget.
